This was an experiment to see if I could color someone else's line art in Illustrator without having to ink it myself. Turned out to be too difficult, and Live Tracing the line art squished out the finer details. Plus it screws up a lot of other things. So no more short cuts for me!

This is *ryuuen's character Aoki, seen here: [link] However I wasn't paying attention and colored her hair and eyes totally wrong. ^^;

The whole thing, minus the kanji (which I took from this image: [link]) and the texture was done in Adobe Illustrator. It was finished in Photoshop.

I love coloring in Illustrator but hate inking in it. I'm torn.

edit: yeah I know the sun is on the wrong side of how she's shaded, but that's what I get for not planning ahead of time. :lol: Also I was just trying to give it more of an Ukiyo-e feeling, really.

I could have easily changed it in Illustrator, but it would have blended in with the blue-grey shading and that would have gone to waste. So I left it as it was. ^^; Thanks.

The colouring job looks really nice. I've never been one for Illustrator, but I think it did the job with the clean shading. Lovely work~:heart:
