It's AR Newsletter time again! And.... I completely forgot about the topic I wanted to speak on! I really am worried about myself, I've been more forgetful than ever lately. So instead, here's a another topic and maybe by the time the next newsletter rolls around, I'll remember what it was.

Tutorials!
One of the number one things anime artists want to know is how they can learn things like Photoshop or Open Canvas to improve their art. A common misconception is that getting Photoshop and a tablet will suddenly make you a master artist. People fail to realize that Photoshop can be very difficult to learn! I've been using it for 4-5 years now and I still don't know everything it does. And drawing directly with a tablet? Fuggedaboutit. I'll never get used to it. Using the computer to do art takes just as much practice as learning to do it with traditional media.

The second biggest misconception seem to be that "Since I'm an anime artist, I don't need to learn proper anatomy!" WHAT? This boggles my mind. A proper foundation in anatomy is the groundwork for all styles, realistic or cartoonish. In order to properly distort & exaggerate anatomy for cartoons, you have to know how the human body works first. It sounds strange, but it's the truth. And the only way to do it is practice. I've been practicing nothing but females for the last few months, and it's helped me GREATLY. I still have a long way to go but my women look way better than they did a few months ago.
