I won't read a comic/manga is the art isn't really proffesional.

Just curious about people’s opinions about this.

To me, if the art is terrible or is really amateurish, I don’t care. I like a good story and characters over perfect artwork. Hell, I used to read Knights of the Dinner Table! That is not a comic you look at for art. XD

Any comic I start is going to have terrible art. TERRIBLE. Comics are good practice, but I don’t want to make one if no one’s gonna read it cuz it’s not perfect. We all have to start somewhere.

As long as I can see that the artist had taken some time and care to make their comics the best as they possibly can I read em whether they look amateurish or not. Even if the drawings might not be the best I know that they've taken some time on their drawings so I expect that they really have something of worth to say :)

I have to vote with the 'I don't care if the art isn't great, so long as the story/characters are interesting and fun.' Choice.

I found the my first attempts at a comic book the other day and still can't believe bought that stuff or read it, even my second attempt wasn't that great. It would seem that people will overlook poor art for an interesting story above all else.

If I ever get these novels out of the way I'll post one of those things that shows the artist progress and scan in a few of the old pages for you to see what I mean.

So just focus on the art of storytelling more then anything else and the art will come over time. The only way to improve is to get too it and start drawing.

Well jaa ne and luck to you.

honestly, most of the mangas I have read (for instance, most of peach pit's works) have limited to no shading and are sometimes hard to follow who's talking (damn it, use speech bubble tails lol). But I love the stories, so I keep reading :D

Art has to be viewable at least but it's the story which decides if continue reading it or not.

It ruins the story for me if the art isn't as good as the story.
